General Description

Cinnamon red color sometimes a chocolate reddish-brown color. Dorsal white head edges with a half circular spot in the center. Has cephalic ridges, white lateral longitudinal stripes and complete white rings. Both a white median stripe on the dorsal surface bifurcates at the head tip enclosing a patch of the same color as the body easily distinguishes this species form Tubulanus superbus. The ventral surface is pale compared to the dorsal. All but the first 2-3 white rings are more or less equidistantly spaced.

intertidal under stones, on sand, mud or coralline ground; sublittoral among holdfasts of Laminaria to depths of about 12m in course tubes attached to old bivalve shells
