Onobrychis viciifolia (Esparcet) is a species of perennial herb in the family Fabaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They have compound, broad leaves and red flowers. Flowers are visited by European honey bee, Shrill carder bee, common blue, and Andrena similis. Individuals can grow to 2.5 feet.
