Much-branched deciduous scrambling shrub without tendrils. Branchlets densely velvety; latex clear or orange. Leaves obovate to almost round, up to 6 × 4 cm, (dark) green and velvety above, paler yellowish green and shortly hairy below, thinly textured with 4-9 pairs of lateral veins. Flowers fragrant, appearing before or with the leaves, 1-5(-10) per inflorescence. Corolla lobes ending in long, pendulous tails up to 10 cm long. Fruit of 2 diverging follicles, each 17-28 cm long, ending in an obtuse or knob-like apex, dark brown to purple-brown, pubescent when young, covered in elongated lenticels.
