Macroptilium atropurpureum is a species of shrub in the family legumes. They are climbers. They are native to The Contiguous United States and Puerto Rico. They have compound, broad leaves and purple flowers. Flowers are visited by Euglossa, Phoebis sennae, Euglossa dilemma, and Chioides albofasciatus. Individuals can grow to 4 feet.
