This is the southermost pear in the world. the fruits are bony and not tasty. They fall under the tree and rot and later distributed by Syrian bears that are unfortunately already extinct in the region. This pic was taken ion Nahal Govta in lower Mt Hermon.

The Syrian Pear is a wild pear, it has small, bony pears in summer. Now it is in peak blooming. Unlike cherries and almonds it has unpleasant flower scent. Here you can the "mother" tree, and a smaller tree is sprouting on the right from the mother tree roots. So actually they are the same plant.
