Carica papaya (Papaya) is a species of shrub in the family Caricaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Middle America. They have simple, broad leaves and white flowers. Flowers are visited by Crimson Patched Longwing, Zebra Longwing, and Sweet-potato hornworm, pink-spotted hawkmoth. Individuals can grow to 20 feet.
