They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, Alaska, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Pseudepipona herrichii, Plebejus shasta pitkinensis, Euphilotes enoptes ancilla, and Euphilotes glaucon.
