Hypericum perforatum (Perforate St John's Wort) is a species of perennial herb in the family Hypericaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to India, Germany, Russia, Greece, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Finland, Italy, Iraq, Spain, Croatia, Morocco, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Israel, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, France, Kazakhstan, Poland, Sweden, Cyprus, Lithuania, Iran, Austria, China, Norway, Tunisia, Slovenia, Syria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Romania, Ireland, United Kingdom, Turkmenistan, Macedonia, Malta, Sudan, Hungary, Estonia, Portugal, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Andorra, Gibraltar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Mongolia, Denmark, Afghanistan, Slovakia, and Albania. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Meligethes, Eupeodes luniger, Syritta pipiens, and Eupeodes corollae. Individuals can grow to 0.5 m.
