They are native to Sergipe, SãO Paulo, The Contiguous United States, Bahia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Rio De Janeiro, Mata Atlântica, Espirito Santo, Puerto Rico, Cerrado, Mato Grosso Do Sul, and Minas Gerais. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Turk's-Cap White-Skipper, Whirlabout, Dorantes Longtail, and Heliopetes arsalte. Individuals can grow to 0.5 m.
