They are native to Mata Atlântica, Puerto Rico, Roraima, AmazôNia, Pará, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cerrado, Acre (Brazil), Amapá, North America, Tocantins, Maranhao, RondôNia, and Mato Grosso. They have broad leaves and capsule fruit.
