Definition: A taxon is Extinct when there is no reasonable doubt that the last individual has died. A \r\ntaxon is presumed Extinct when exhaustive surveys in known and/or expected habitat, \r\nat appropriate times (diurnal, seasonal, annual), throughout its historic range have failed \r\nto record an individual. Surveys should be over a time frame appropriate to the taxon’s \r\nlife cycle and life form.
Definition: A list (concatenated and separated) of nomenclatural types (type status, typified scientific name, publication) applied to the subject.
Comment: The recommended best practice is to separate the values with a vertical bar (' | '). Examples: "holotype of Ctenomys sociabilis. Pearson O. P., and M. I. Christie. 1985. Historia Natural, 5(37):388", "holotype of Pinus abies | holotype of Picea abies". For discussion see http://terms.tdwg.org/wiki/dwc:typeStatus
Definition: All of the specimens in the type series of a species or infraspecific taxon other than the holotype (and, in botany, isotypes). Paratypes must have been at the disposition of the author at the time when the original description was created and must have been designated and indicated in the publication. Judgment must be exercised on paratype status, for only rarely are specimens explicitly cited as paratypes, but usually as "specimens examined,''other material seen", etc. [Zoo./Bot.]
