They are native to Alagoas, Amazônia, Acre (Brazil), Mato Grosso, Bahia, Roraima, RondôNia, Pará, ParaíBa, Rio De Janeiro, Mata Atlântica, Amapá, Cerrado, Sergipe, Pernambuco, Maranhao, Espirito Santo, Piauí, and Tocantins. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Fork-tailed Woodnymph and Straight-billed Hermit. Individuals can grow to 27 m.
