Simarouba amara is a species of tree in the family Simaroubaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Pernambuco, GoiáS, Mata AtlâNtica, Cerrado, Rio Grande Do Norte, Caatinga, Pará, Espirito Santo, AmazôNia, Roraima, Rio De Janeiro, RondôNia, Alagoas, Amapá, ParaíBa, Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Sergipe, Acre (Brazil), Distrito Federal, Maranhao, Bahia, Ceará, Piauí, Mato Grosso, AmazôNia, and The Neotropics. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 27 m. Reproduction is dioecious.
