Bunchosia mollis Seem. Bot. Voy. Herald 91. 1853. Not B. mollis Benth. 1848.
Leaf-blades oblong, elliptic, or oval, varying to obovate, 5-16 cm. long, obtuse or shortacuminate, thinnish, copiously pubescent, at least beneath, obtuse or rounded at the base, short-petioled ; pedicels villous ; sepals oblong or ovate-oblong, 3^1 mm. long, the glands one half as long as the sepal-body or more; larger petals 7-S.5 mm. long, the blades suborbicular ; ovary and style pubescent ; drupes not seen.
Type locality : Near Turbaco, Colombia. Distribution : Panama and Colombia.

Bunchosia costaricensis Rose ; Donn. Smith, in Pittier,
Prim. Fl. Costar. 2 : 63. 1898. Leaf-blades oblong, ovate-oblong, or ovate, 9-20 cm. long , short-acuminate, glabrous, or nearly so, above at maturity, permanently pubescent beneath, finely veined above, prominently veined beneath, abruptly narrowed or subcordate at the base, short-petioled ; pedicels pubescent ; sepals ovate to oblong-ovate, 6-7 mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body; larger petals 10-12 mm. long, the blades suborbicular, laciniate, that of the inner one similar to those of the others ; ovary and style pubescent ; drupes not seen.
Type locality : San Jose, Costa Rica. Distribution : Costa Rica.
