An amphibious fern with creeping rhizomes that root at the nodes; fronds are sparingly hairy or glabrous and dimorphic: the small fronds have small stipes and are cuneate with deeply crenate to lobed apex; large fronds have numerous long stipes and pinnae with crenate to entire, rounded apex. Sporocarps are quadrangular, with vertical depressions on both sides and one conical to acute tooth.
