They are native to Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, AmazôNia, Ceará, Mato Grosso, RondôNia, Mata AtlâNtica, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Roraima, Pará, AmazôNia, Acre (Brazil), Pernambuco, and Amapá. They have simple, broad leaves. They have alternation of generations.
