They are native to Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Alagoas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cerrado, Mata Atlântica, The Contiguous United States, Caatinga, Ceará, ParaíBa, Piauí, Bahia, Pernambuco, and Puerto Rico. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Polybia paulista, Urbanus proteus proteus, Polybia sericea, and Thecla sarita.
