Centaurea jacea (brown knapweed) is a herbaceous species of plant in the family Asteraceae, with a self-supporting growth habit. It has simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Scarce Swallowtail, marbled white, Vanessa cardui, and Queen of Spain Fritillary. It is a photoautotroph.
