Gutierrezia sarothrae is a species of shrub in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to North America, United States, Canada, The Neotropics, Western North America, The Contiguous United States, and Eastern North America. They have simple, broad leaves, yellow flowers, and achenes. Flowers are visited by Dianthidium, Bombus huntii, Micranthophora, and Common Branded Skipper. Individuals can grow to 1.5 feet.
