Description: Overall grey with bluish tinge from scales bluish streaks, ear spot dark, pectoral-fin base spot black small, tail yellow extending to posterior dorsal fin (Ref. 90102). Distinguished from similar species by the all-yellow anal fin (Ref. 48636). Body depth 2.5-2.8 in SL (Ref. 90102).

Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).

分布於印度-西太平洋區，由東非到印度-馬來列島，以及台灣、菲律賓、美拉尼西亞 (除斐濟) 、 Molucca 島、澳洲北部、新幾內亞、索羅門群島與萬那杜等。台灣南部、東北部、東部及小琉球等沿岸礁區較常見。

本身體色豔麗，是受歡迎之水族觀賞魚。

體呈橢圓形而側扁，標準體長為體高之2.5-2.8倍。吻短而鈍圓。口中型；兩頜齒兩列，小而呈圓錐狀。眶前骨具鱗，眶下骨具鱗，下緣平滑；前鰓蓋骨後緣多少呈鋸齒。體被櫛鱗；鼻部具鱗；側線之有孔鱗片17-19個。背鰭單一，軟條部略延長而呈尖形，硬棘XIII，軟條11-12；臀鰭硬棘II，軟條11-12；胸鰭鰭條17-19；尾鰭深叉形，上下葉末端延長呈絲狀。體呈褐色；鰓蓋上緣近側線處具一小黑點。鱗片皆具藍紋。背、臀鰭後半部及尾部黃色；胸鰭透明，基底黑色。

主要棲息於外礁斜坡區，亦常常在較深且洶湧的峽道或毗連的岩架附近。經常在亞潮帶的棲息地形成小群魚群。

Neopomacentrus azysron is a damselfish from the Indo-West Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 7.5 cm in length.
