Nycticorax caledonicus (Bittern) is a species of birds in the family Ardeidae. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in Australasia, Oceania (Australia and islands), and the Indo-Malayan Realm. Individuals can grow to 1014 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Bittern relies on flight to move around.
