Senna occidentalis (Septicweed) is a species of shrub in the family Fabaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Rio De Janeiro, Paraná, Rio Grande Do Sul, Amapá, Cerrado, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pantanal, Espirito Santo, Alagoas, Caatinga, SãO Paulo, Bahia, ParaíBa, Distrito Federal, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande Do Norte, Pará, Tocantins, Mata AtlâNtica, Ceará, Mato Grosso, Roraima, AmazôNia, Santa Catarina, GoiáS, Maranhao, Acre (Brazil), AmazôNia, Minas Gerais, RondôNia, and Sergipe. They have compound, compound leaves. Flowers are visited by Xylocopa darwini, Euglossa cordata, Lipotriches whitfieldi, and Large Carpenter Bees. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
