Symphyotrichum ascendens (Western Aster) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, and The Americas. They have simple, broad leaves and achenes. Flowers are visited by Stelis, Cercyonis oetus charon, Leafcutter bee, and Villa lateralis. Individuals can grow to 0.097 m.
