Symphyotrichum lateriflorum (Calico Aster) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, and The Americas. They have simple, broad leaves and achene. Flowers are visited by drone fly, Charidryas, Broad-headed bug, and Spined Assassin Bug. Individuals can grow to 1.5 m.
