Slender Frog

Found in Cape York Peninsula, northern Queensland. From Cooktown in the east to the Archer River in the west.The extent of occurrence of the species is approximately 31200 km2

A variety of moist habitats: rainforest, gallery forest (forest along creeks), grassy woodland, monsoon forests and swamps. May also be found in moist pockets within a dry forest. Associated with both perennial and non-perennial streams.Males call from vegetation up to 0.5m above ground. Breeding and larvae unknown.

No known declines and extent of occurrence > 20,000km2.ThreatsLogging in rainforest habitat was a threat in the past, now tourism and associated habitat degradation is more a threat in northern Queensland. Conservation MeasuresRainforest habitat is protected within World Heritage Area.

The slender frog (Austrochaperina gracilipes) is a species of frog in the family Microhylidae. It is found in Australia and New Guinea. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, moist savanna, rivers, and intermittent rivers.
