Hyaena hyaena (Striped Hyena) is a species of mammal in the family hyaenas. It is listed as near threatened by IUCN and in CITES Appendix III. It is found in the Indo-Malayan Realm, the Afrotropics, and the Palearctic. It is a solitary mammalivore. Individuals are known to live for 288 months.
