It is only distributed in extremeely shallow water.The first sponges were found below the water surface.the species was not observed deeper than 3m .The highest abundance was found at a depth between 1 and 2.5m the preferred substrate was as in the case of Niphates rowi barren rock, although no preferences for vertical was found.
