They are native to RondôNia, Pará, GoiáS, Martinique, Paraná, Amazônia, Tocantins, SãO Paulo, Guadeloupe, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Contiguous United States, Minas Gerais, Maranhao, Distrito Federal, Puerto Rico, Bahia, Rio De Janeiro, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pernambuco, Saint Martin, Ceará, and Saint Barthelemy. They have simple, broad leaves and loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Honey bee. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
