Castanea dentata (American Chestnut) is a species of tree in the family Fagaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are listed as endangered by COSEWIC. They are native to Canada, The Contiguous United States, and Eastern North America. They have simple, broad leaves and white flowers. Flowers are visited by Yellow-banded Bumblebee, Tachinid fly, Tricolored Bumble Bee, and Common Grackle. Individuals can grow to 115 feet.
