Imperata cylindrica (Cogongrass) is a species of perennial herb in the family true grasses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Thailand, Eastern North America, Japan, Asia, The Philippines, and Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Hypotrigona ruspolii. Individuals can grow to 4.3 m.
