It is native to Greenland, Canada, Alaska, the contiguous United States, eastern north america, North America, western north america, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Lithuania, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, Georgia, Italy, Armenia, France, Mongolia, United Kingdom, Hungary, Greece, Iran, the Netherlands, Romania, Albania, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Russia, Cyprus, Belgium, Portugal, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Czech Republic, Spain, Norway, Pakistan, Estonia, Germany, India, Ireland, China, Yugoslavia, Syria, Ukraine, Sweden, Austria, Bulgaria, Moldova, Finland, and Latvia. Kentucky Bluegrass has simple, broad leaves and yellow flowers. Flowers are visited by Frontina. Kentucky Bluegrass is a photoautotroph.
