Paspalum virgatum (Talquezal) is a species of perennial grass in the family True grasses. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to the contiguous United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Pernambuco, Distrito Federal, Amapá, São Paulo, Mata Atlântica, Goiás, Amazônia, Cerrado, Pantanal, Mato Grosso do Sul, Roraima, Acre (Brazil), Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rondônia, Pará, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Maranhao, and Amazônia. Talquezal has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph.
