It is native to Paraná, Cerrado, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Mata Atlântica. Cordyline congesta has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
