Ambystoma mexicanum (Axolotl) is a species of amphibians in the family mole salamanders. It is listed as critically endangered by IUCN and in CITES Appendix II. It is associated with freshwater habitat. Axolotl is found in the Neotropics and the Nearctic. It is a carnivore. It has sexual reproduction. Reproduction is dioecious.
