Description:

Summary[edit] DescriptionAPI English: Crystal Brain Fungus (Exidia nucleata) (A commonly encountered older synonym for this species is Myxarium nucleatum) This fungus can occur in much more extensive patches, becoming more convoluted and brain-like in shape. However, the small specimens shown here contain cream-coloured "kernels", which are small concretions of calcium oxalate. These are not always present in this species, but, when they are, they provide a useful aid to identification. Compare 933073; see that item for details of the differences between the two species.
