Description:

Alpine Chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus graculus) or Yellow-billed Chough on the Sntis, famous and highest mountain in the Alpstein massif in Appenzell, Switzerland. It is the nominate form of the 2 subspecies of Pyrrhocorax. It is a closer relative to the Red-billed Cough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) than to the Jackdaw (Corvus monedula). They are excellent flyers and sometimes quite intrusive. They usually live in quite big colonies. During hard wintertime with most of the meadows covered with snow they will go to subjacent regions.Obviously this shot was NOT an outstanding bird shot... to qualify for the corresponding group with the same name and obviously this group is also outstanding critical...
