Description:

Back view of the Sri Lankan race of Crested Serpent Eagle. These eagles are grouped with the Circaetus snake eagles in the subfamily Ciraetinae.They are mainly ambush predators of reptiles tending to hunt from a perch in forested areas. They have short broad wings adapted to forest flight unlike the true Circaetus eagles which have long wings and tend to hunt over open ground or open savannah woodland.Framed by a friend.
