Tasmanian Tullbergiidae (13862493544)

Image of Tullbergiidae

Description:

Description: English: A spieces of the Tullbergiidae family of springtails. Original description on Flickr: One for Frans! These were the most common springtail in a dry forest to the back of a paddock on the coast in Montagu, Tasmania. And they were also large, around 1.5mm. There's two distinctive things they seem to have. The first are curious regular and round indentations on each segment. I seem to remember seeing the same thing on some UK Tullbergiidae too, though I can't track down the photos. The second is the light coloured semi-circular patch on the last segment, seen in the comments. This occurred on every one I photographed.Rather a nice one!. Date: 4 April 2014, 07:00:42.
