Opossum discovered in engine compartment of my Volkswagen on a cold, wet March morning before sunrise, apparently attracted to the heat from my TDI engine block heater. (For all I know, he may have found refuge there before, scuttling away before being detected.) I needed windshield washer fluid and opened my hood before turning on the car. A few seconds after taking this photo, he squeezed down into the darkness and disappeared.
