Description:

English: Secretory cavities (not secretory cells) on a Cape chestnut leaf held against sunlight, in the gardens of the Union Buildings, Pretoria. The cavities show up as round lucid dots in the centers of the leaf polygons, and in this species' case they produce a potato-like smell when crushed. Such leaves are described as "pellucid gland dotted", "pellucid punctuate", or "glandular punctuate". Date: 3 March 2013, 11:47. Source: Own work. Author: JMK.
