Description:
The attractive holly-like, evergreen leaves (turning reddish in winter) of Berberis repens (syn. Mahonia repens). Common names include Creeping Barberry and Oregon Grape.This plant was producing flower buds; unusual since this is a spring-blooming species. Some five days later, the plant was under 18 inches of snow.December 10, 2015, Salt Lake County foothills, Utah, elev. about 4,915 ft.
