Description:

Pachyjoenia has at the time of writing one species P. howa. A joeniid flagellate with a dome-shaped flagellar area that measures 150 µm in length and 75 µm in breath. The anterior pole bears a tuft of flagella, the axostyle is very thick and protrudes posteriorly. The main parabasal fiber and its branches are twisted around the axostylar trunk at the base of the dome and the nucleus. Occuring in Postelectrotermes howa from Reunion Island.
