Description :
Gomphonema (gomf-owe-knee-ma), pennate diatom which is more expanded to one end and tapered to the other. Here seen with a more typically shaped diatom. With a central raphe and surface sculptings which are typical of diatoms, as well as the characteristic yellow brown chloroplasts with chlorophylls a and c. Differential interference contrast.
