They are native to Western North America, Tunisia, Latvia, Myanmar, North Korea, South Korea, Romania, Syria, Italy, Thailand, United Kingdom, Iraq, Tajikistan, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Ireland, Lebanon, Morocco, Switzerland, Poland, Norway, Japan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Iran, Taiwan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Israel, Sweden, Pakistan, Mongolia, Libya, Russia, Moldova, and Ukraine. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Viceroy. Individuals can grow to 0.73 m.
