    The Northern River Otter is not extinct or rare in Virginia, so I don't understand why the text says they are "gone from the central and Eastern United States." We actually see quite a few here in Rappahannock County, VA, and they are listed as S4 here (apparently secure) and S5 globally, although I know CITES has them listed in Appendix II (" not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled").
