    @Yan Wong: We're planning on redoing the NatureServe connector to move some of their stuff to TraitBank. At that point, we can also address the common names issue. When there are no other common names, their very general names can sometimes be useful, so I'm not sure we should toss them all.

    @Michаel Frаnkis: This usually happens while a harvest is in the process of getting published. It should go away after the data set is fully published, but sometimes the publication process may get stuck, and the message persists until the next harvest gets published. Are these all Wikimedia Commons images?

    @Katja Schulz: At some point Yan Wong wrote code that could fix this problem, at least for some images. Katja, see DATA-989. Maybe it has broken or needs to be run again. Or they need to be added to this collection first: http://eol.org/collections/27159/ (I can make Katja and Benjamin manager rights to this collection).

    @Benjamin J. Crain: You must have rotated these on Flickr after uploading them or allowed Flickr to auto-rotate them. This means that the original file is still sideways when you download it. Check it out: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8369/8469148788_c614cf8c44_o_d.jpg Unfortunately, we don't have the tools to fix this on our end, so the only thing you can do is to upload a fresh copy of the image that is oriented correctly as a new image. Note that replacing the original of the old image will not work. Once an image has been harvested from Flickr, EOL updates image data when they change, but not the image file itself.

    Hello Katja, One final question (I hope), the photos for Microchilus plantagineaus are appearing sideways. They are normal on the flickr account. Any way to fix this?

    Hello Katja Thank you for the quick answer. I had no idea about the quotes or the synonym connections! It is strange though, because I have done it that way in the past and it has worked for most of the species. Anyway, I really appreciate your help!!! Cheers, Benjamin

    @Benjamin J. Crain:

    There's a problem with your machine tags. You should use either binomial tags OR species tags, but not both. Your binomial tags are not valid. It looks like you didn't put quotes around them, so the species name got separated from the genus name. If you use binomial tags, you should always enter them like this, with the quotes: "taxonomy:binomial=Galearis rotundifolia"

    Also, you don't need to add machine tags for synonyms. Those are already in our database: http://eol.org/pages/1113312/names/synonyms, http://eol.org/pages/1134345/names/synonyms

    Hello, I also see that there seems to be a problem with the Anacamptis fragrans page, and again, photos with the appropriate tags/groups/copyright don't seem to be showing up. Cheers Benjamin

    Hello, I am not sure if I am contacting the right person, but I am trying to upload a photograph of Galearis rotundifolia to the system and it does not seem to be appearing. I have attached it to the group and there are several tags associated with it (species, genus, binomial, family) and even tags for its synonyms but it does not appear in any of them. Please let me know what I need to do to fix this. Thank you! Benjamin Crain

    @David Illig: Yes, those stripes look pretty orange to me. If you change the machine tags on your Flickr photo, the revised taxon association will be harvested by EOL within a day or two.

    Could you please write an article on Raphidae? The family Raphidae should at least have one or two articles, yet the Raphidae taxon page has no articles at all. I feel that the taxon should have many articles. Please add an article to the Raphidae page.

    Katja Schulz commented on Katja Schulz's newsfeed:

    @Nick Durmuller:

    It's not that simple. This particular case is actually quite complicated. Tricholoma albobrunneum is an accepted species name based on several different sources: http://eol.org/pages/1008934/names?all=1 So we definitely need to have a taxon page for it. BUT in the literature the name has apparently also been applied to specimens representing other species, not just Tricholoma ustaloides but also Tricholoma ustale and Tricholoma batschii. So that's why it's listed as a synonym on each of those pages. We would not want to have all these pages merged together because they do represent different species. It's just that there has been some confusion in the application of names in the past. Also, we would not want to have T. ustaloides, ustale, and batschii listed as synonyms on the Tricholoma albobrunneum page, because there's no record of these names having been mis-applied to Tricholoma albobrunneum specimens. The synonym relationship is not reciprocal here. If what you want is a list of pages on which the name Tricholoma albobrunneum is listed either as a preferred name or as a synonyms, you can do a search and click through to see all results: http://eol.org/search?q=Tricholoma+albobrunneum&show_all=true

    It's important to note that the EOL names infrastructure is much more complicated than that of Wikipedia or other sites that build a single consensus classification. Each EOL taxon page matches names from a series of different sources algorithmically. With that many voices weighing in, you'll never get a fully integrated, consistent taxonomy. The best we can do is to provide a semi-consistent approximation that represents dissenting opinions as faithfully as possible.

    @Theodore Ganea: Unfortunately, we cannot change the subject of an article. Only the provider can do this. Also, the sequence of articles changes based on user ratings, so I don't know which article was first when you looked at the page. But neither of the two Brief Summary articles on that pages is terribly long.

    Katja Schulz, On the page "Equus Zebra", the first article in "Brief Summary" is misplaced. In my opinion, it should be under "Comprehensive Description". I am only an assistant curator, so I don't have the rank to edit articles. Please check out the article. If you think the article should be in "Comprehensive Description" please move the article to "Comprehensive Description".
