Priscila Chaverri commented on an older version of Image of Nectriopsis tremellicola:

This image is very confusing. I does not have any description so one does not know which is really N. tremellicola.

Priscila Chaverri commented on "EOL Curators":

I have noticed something about the descriptions of some of the species in the Hypocreales (e.g. Hypomyces, Hypocrea). For example, one description of a species of Hypomyces says: "Title: Infected fruitbodies - close-up Type: standard photograph or close-up Camera: NikonD100+T90 Russula emetica on deformed gills. Summary: Deforming gills of Russula emetica Site: Curr Wood Country: Scotland More info..." How is this information imported from the source? It really should read something like this: Title: Infected fruitbodies - close-up Type: standard photograph or close-up Camera: NikonD100+T90 Hypomyces xxxx on deformed gills of Russula emetica. Summary: Deforming gills of Russula emetica Site: Curr Wood Country: Scotland More info... As a curator, what can I do about this?

This description is confusing. It is not "Geoglossum cookeanum covering ascocarp." It is really "Hypomyces papulasporae covering living ascocarp of Geoglossum cookeanum"

Priscila Chaverri commented on "Image of Nectria cinnabarina":

This a taxonomic "view" that has been discontinued. Before the 1990s, the Hypocreales consisted of just one family Hypocreaceae. Then the order was split into several families and Nectria was placed in Nectriaceae.

Priscila Chaverri commented on "EOL Curators":

If there are problems with the nomenclature in EoL, how can we fix that? For example, there are some names in Fungi that are not current even when Index Fungorum is using the current ones.

Priscila Chaverri commented on an older version of Image of Nectria cinnabarina:

@Malcolm Storey: Hi Malcolm, Thanks. I see that now. And at close up it does look like the anamorph of N. cinnabarina. It is just that those images with the contaminant spores are confusing and that hopefully users will understand that it is not typical. Thanks for pointing it out. I am starting to learn how to navigate through EoL.

Priscila Chaverri commented on an older version of Description of Fungi:

There is something wrong or unclear from this statement: "A number of independent types of organisms have been referred to as protists - including amoeboid slime moulds, the oomycetes that are related to diatoms and brown algae, and the true fungi that are related (or, according to some, include) chytrids." First, chytrids ARE fungi. Second, the sentence needs to be re-written to clarify that these organisms, the protists, are not true fungi and that at some point in history they were.
