Thanks, Christy. This collection is really focused on scientific names, because this is where homonyms can cause real trouble with the names infrastructure, resulting in all sorts of unfortunate mix-ups. That said, we obviously want common name searches to pick up the generally intended page. Most of the time, this works pretty well. However, in particular cases where a search for a common (or scientific) name takes a user to a page that is clearly not what most users are looking for (as in the case of Black Widow, which probably brought up the fish because it was an exact match whereas the spider page is displaying the name "Black Widow spider"), we can tweak those individually. The Black widow search should now bring you to the spider page.

I searched for "Black Widow" as in spider, and came up with Stygnobrotula latebricola — Black Widow, which appears to be a fish.

@Kathryn Hall: You should be able to see the collection in your list now; I made you a manager. We've been working hard on a fix for these issues, hope to be able to fix soon.

Hi Katja, I just joined this community on Jen Hammock's advice. I have found a few homonyms I would like to add to the collection, but I can't make the collection show in my collections list. Can you please advise me how to proceed? Is it best for now just to post the taxon names here? So far I have found Neosiphonia, Desmanthus and Pleroma. All are sponges and plants. Cheers, Kathryn

This is a hononym issue, should only be on the Crocodylus niloticus page: http://eol.org/data_objects/13517948

@Tanya Higgins: I have also just made you a manager for the Taxon Concept Management To Do List. This is a list of tasks to tackle once we get our new concept management tool. It will allow EOL admins to split and merge taxon pages based on curator recommendations. It's currently in the works and should become available before too long.

@Patrick Leary: that's a good one Patrick. I'm wondering if you think it is helpful to do this manual review via EOL collections. We really should be using these lists behind the scenes.

@Leo Shapiro: I've also come across a couple of genus that had more than one page for the same Kingdom classification (like Acanthopale), is there a place to note those pages so they can be combined?

@Leo Shapiro: I'm certainly willing to work through Z, I find the process oddly calming. *laughs* I haven't yet run into any genus from the wiki list that don't appear on EOL at all, but there have been plenty in which both genus were represented on a single page, and I'm not sure how an aggregator would deal with that (though, honestly, I'm not sure how an aggregator deals with anything).
