@Jennifer Hammock: Hey Jen, did you pass on the long list of cicada homonyms I emailed you or should I submit them to the "homonym hunters"?!

I got about 10 emails from support@eol.org and then probably the same three as Maria from noreply@eol.org. I assume it depends what communities you are signed up to.

@Roderic Page: Hi Rod - In Google Refine, once you have imported your data and reconciled the names, do you know what is the "expression" that will return the EOL URLs? Thanks!

Kathy Hill marked "Magicicada" as trusted on the "Magicicada W.T. Davis, 1925" page.

There is no such name as Magicicada septencassini. The species is called Magicicada cassini

Hi Dana. There is a typo in the second sentence of the Brief Summary. It should say the other FOUR have 13 year life cycles.

Another similar question (please let me know if there is another page I should be reading with answers to these kinds of questions!) - If you create text content using, say, Direct Contribution, but then thru a different Content Partner (say your Scratchpads site) you create text for the same Subject Type (ie Brief Summary), then does the original contribution get overwritten when the Scratchpads site gets harvested?

On the same topic as before - if you have a Flickr account, and you share a photo with the EOL images group, then you later remove your photo from your photostream, I assume it then disappears from the EOL Images group, and then from EOL? Is that correct? I'm just trying to figure this out. I don't have a pro Flickr account for example, so occasionally I delete photos if I want to post more than 300megs in a month. So I imagine that some other people might do this as well.

@Cyndy Parr: Thanks Cyndy, that is very useful to know, and I assume it applies to all data objects. So we have to hope that all content partners stay online "forever" (or I guess you could just not harvest from them again if they are gone)?

@Bob Corrigan: I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best platform for me to use to share my Cicadidae data. I have my own website www.insectsingers.com but it seems that it would probably be easier to use Scratchpads or Lifedesks which are already set up to work with EOL. Since I am totally new to this, I am trying to figure out which is better. I still have some trouble understanding how EOL works. After EOL harvests the information from somewhere like Lifedesks or Scratchpads or Flickr, does it then store the information itself? If an image, say, is removed from the Scratchpad or Flickr site, and EOL "reharvests" from this place (or however it works), does the image remain with EOL?

What do people think is the best platform for sharing data - Lifedesks or Scratchpads? It seems to me like Scratchpads is more popular at the moment. Is there a reason to have both Lifedesks and Scratchpads as an option? Is anyone programming their own website to share data with EOL?
