Looks like an overweight individual - rarely this plump in the wild.

Although generally solid information, a few key facts give the wrong impression - for instance the statement that the alpha pair usually kill and eat offspring that aren't their own. That needs a specific reference, as Doolan and Macdonald 1987 found that 40% of bands had plural breeding, and up to 3 females were repo active simultaneously. Juveniles per female did decrease as group size went up. In general, article needs more scientific references, and references embedded into the text, especially for the Name, Reproduction and Anatomy sections (such as for the statement that the pattern of stripes is unique to each individual). [Note: not all other mongooses have bushy tails, others also have tails that taper into a slender tip]

This article provides a lot of good information from good resources, but could be improved in terms of physical description (by providing references for that), and of social behavior. Most of the description for social behavior comes from 1-2 articles, and describes some of the aggressive behaviors. The addition of descriptions of other behaviors, such as the potential need for obligate communal breeding, allosuckling, guarding, babysitting, mutual grooming, and general dominance, would help indicate the complex social behaviors of this species. A citation is needed for the interspecific interaction section regarding baboons, though interactions with hornbills have been described by Anne Rasa in 1983.
